Many people who come to Iguazu Falls have never been to a jungle, let alone one of the largest and most beautiful waterfalls in the world. As part of your unique Iguazu experience you may want to not only explore the waterfalls but the surrounding Iguazu jungle. To enhance your visit, embark on an intrepid safari adventure that takes you by jeep deep into the humid canopies so emblematic of the Misiones and Parana provinces where the Iguazu River makes its path.
You can take the Iguazu Jungle Safari Jeep Ride from land, but even more exciting is to include it as part the Gran Aventura package that Iguazu offers and take the powerboat 400-500 metres down the river to the Jeep station. Jump off the boat tingling and revitalised from an exhilarating boat-trip into the misty storm of waterfalls near the Garganta del Diablo and walk up into the jungle to change and dry off at the jungle base which marks the beginning of the safari trail.
From here everyone climbs into an enormous 4×4 jungle jeep that suddenly revs into life and slowly carves it’s away along the muddy track deep into the undergrowth. You will be accompanied by a bilingual tour guide who stands at the front and gives a detailed account of the many different types of animals and plants that inhabit the Iguazu jungle.
Shimmering swathes of butterflies float over your head as the canopies whistle and hum with life. Look out for various types of monkeys, iguanas and some stunning trees. Jaguars and pumas are also known to lurk in these parts but they normally aren’t conspicuous enough to be seen in pure daylight.
