Did you know that one of the biggest Carnival celebrations in the world is in Argentina? Did you know that it lasts for nearly 3 months, from January-March?! If so, then you should have no problem pronouncing, “Gualeguaychu!”
Gualeguaychu is the premiere summer party in South America. Started over 100 years ago, the Cualeguaychu Carnival has grown in popularity and prestige each year and is now recognized as the best Argentina Carnival celebration!
Much like Rio’s Carnival, Gualeguaychu is all about the parade…and there are thousands of sparkling, feather covered dancing participants strutting their stuff for the 40,000 seat capacity stadium. In fact, at last count there were over 70,000 feathers and 500,000 sparkling beads…let the fun begin!
Gualeguaychu is located in the province of Entre Rios, just 230km from Buenos Aires and since the town is also located near the Uruguayan border and along the main route to Sao Paolo, it attracts many South American tourists to the Gualeguaychu Carnival. Beyond the carnival, there are also lovely beach resorts and nearby hot springs to enjoy.
